What is the console
In light of Switch 2 release and recent “Xbox” announcement from Rog Ally. This is a total mess and needs a blog post. The reason I put “Xbox” in quotes is because the device can’t actually run all Xbox games natively. It’s a PC, so it can stream Xbox games from the Microsoft cloud or play the games which are available on PC. But it can’t run Xbox exclusive games because it’s a different hardware. Nintendo Switch has three major differences to Steam Dock and its Windows clones:
- Games do not require changing settings.
- Switching between portable and TV mode without changing settings.
- Playing with controllers in your hand disconnected.
And these advantages are why Switch is a much better choice for most people. No matter how many launchers they add and how much performance they will try to squeeze out of the portable PCs, they will never catch up with Switch. In addition, games can run better on Switch because it’s a single hardware spec.
